Reviving Your Instrument's Performance

Every guitar needs care to stay at its best. Over time, wear and tear from playing, travel, humidity and string tension can affect tuning, tone, and playability. Strings lose life. Frets wear down. Electronics get noisy. Even high-end instruments benefit from regular check-ups.

At Wickham Guitar Repairs, we offer professional acoustic and electric guitar servicing that covers all the essential maintenance tasks — and includes light repair work where needed. Whether you’re bringing in your everyday acoustic for a tune-up or your gigging electric is starting to feel off, we can help bring it back into balance.

Our workshop in Wickham handles everything from seasonal maintenance to structural tweaks and electronics cleanups — with decades of experience behind every job.

Is It Time for a Service?

Guitar servicing isn’t just for instruments that are obviously damaged — it’s for any guitar that isn’t quite playing or sounding like it should. You might notice tuning instability, dulled tone, or slight fret buzz. Maybe the action feels higher than it used to, or the strings just don’t respond the same way anymore. These are all signs your guitar could benefit from a professional service.

Instruments that have been sitting in storage, exposed to weather changes, or played regularly without maintenance often show subtle wear that gradually affects their performance. And if you've recently purchased a second-hand guitar — or even a brand-new one straight from the factory — it's likely never had a proper setup or clean. Regular players, especially those preparing for gigs or recording, will notice a significant improvement in tone and feel after a service.

We recommend booking in for servicing roughly once a year, or sooner if something starts to feel off. Small adjustments now can prevent bigger repairs later — and keep your guitar sounding great every time you pick it up.
